‘A true neighbourhood restaurant’, family-friendly Riccardos has been going about its jovial business for well over a decade & still packs ’em in. The dining room’s terracotta-coloured chairs & rough-plastered, burnt-yellow walls may have seen better days, so bag a berth on the covered terrace for one of the better seats in the house. The jumbled menu looks to Tuscany for most of its good stuff, & prices are competitive: pizzas, aubergine & ricotta ravioli with butter & sage, ‘perfect’ tagliatelle with rabbit ragù or perhaps char-grilled tuna with rocket & tomatoes weigh in at around £10. Vegans are amply catered for, & the all-Italian wine list features several organic & biodynamic bottles. Business is brisk, but if you miss out on a table you can always take advantage of Riccardos’ home-delivery service.
