Square Meal review of Rainforest Cafe:

Contrary to first impressions, the Rainforest Cafe is not just a toy shop. Steer the kids past the towering piles of cuddly toys to the back where boulder-clad stairs lead you down to the restaurant itself. This is where the commercialism stops & the magic (if you’re under 11) begins. It’s a two-floor labyrinth of wisteria vines, waterfalls, storms, squawks, growls & animatronic creatures. The menu includes children’s faves such as Bamba’s Bangers (organic Cumberland sausages & mash) & Maya’s Meatballs (also organic, with spaghetti), plus smoothies, juices & unlimited sodas. Adults get more grown-up flavours but similarly jaunty names, such as Sea Bass Samba served on a fennel, sun-blushed tomato & new potato salad. Staff have the patience of saints, & it’s great for children’s parties, but while the kids might love it, your bank balance probably won’t.
