The snug Victoriana of this characteristically cosy Davy’s is strictly a daytime pleasure, for the bar is closed by 5pm each day. Get there early & enjoy a substantial lunch in the dining room: marinated Scottish herring fillets with red onion & potato salad followed by a fish pie with salmon, prawns & white fish or roast topside of beef served with horseradish, salad & hot buttered potatoes. There’s a simpler menu in the more informal bar area & plenty of choice by the glass from the French-oriented Davy’s wine list.
