A wheelbarrow full of spades & plants welcomes you to this slightly eccentric hotel restaurant that celebrates all things related to gardening. Old plant pots, trowels & even stuffed blue tits decorate the dining room, which is tucked away in a surprisingly bright basement underneath Dorset Square. Diners can choose to sit in stone-arched alcoves or a dining room adorned with fading hand-painted murals. The friendly, efficient staff serve unfussy starters such as plum tomato & goats’ cheese tart, followed by cottage pie with baby turnips & garden peas. There are set two- & three-course menus at lunch & dinner, as well as a nicely balanced international wine list & live jazz on a Friday night.
