PJ's Grill

Despite the name (which stands for Polo Joe’s, a reference to the owner’s beloved sports team), there’s not a whole lot that’s American about this Covent Garden old-timer. Clearly not fazed by the pokey layout & somewhat tired decor, a steady flow of diners comes for plates of good-value comfort food ranging from the dated (deep-fried brie, oriental crispy duck pancakes) to the more creative (salmon marinated in ginger, lemongrass & lime with stir-fried veg), with all-time favourites including grilled steaks & the PJ’s burger. Service is ‘reliable & never rushed’ & the all-day opening makes it perfect for late lunches. It’s far from cutting edge, but fans say PJ’s ‘never fails to deliver’.
