Square Meal review of Patara:
In keeping with its siblings, this branch of the upmarket Thai chain is calming & elegant – the kind of place you wouldn’t mind meditating in. That said, the food would prove quite a distraction. As well as Thai favourites, there’s more daring fare by way of poached king scallops in spicy lime & chilli vinaigrette, duck confit in piquant tamarind sauce & veal osso bucco in northern Thai curry sauce. On the whole, the cooking delivers sound, careful flavours, though this isn’t a cheap & cheerful Thai: prices do reflect the kitchen’s skill, so expect to pay around £8 for starters & £14 for mains.
