Square Meal review of Oscar:
Firmdale hotels have built up a reputation as being hip & trendy hangouts for a lively media crowd, not to mention a fair few celebs. That’s exactly what to expect in the dining room of its Charlotte Street outpost, where button-backed chairs & a huge mural by Brit artist Alexander Hollweg set the rather glamorous scene. The Asian-fusion menu is generally successful, propped up with the likes of sweet pepper gazpacho, or tuna sashimi with tangy wasabi pannacotta to start, & following with rump of Elwy Valley lamb with artichoke barigoule or steamed sea bream with Asian greens & lemongrass broth. Service is slick, the wine list eclectic & the prices certainly not for struggling artists. The bar (see separate review) is a buzzing spot for pre- or post-dinner drinking.
