Square Meal review of Bistro 190:

Rather marooned in the hinterland of the Albert Hall, this charming hotel dining room is nevertheless worth seeking out even if you’re not headed for the Proms or an ageing rocker’s farewell tour. The quirky decor blends bistro bentwood chairs & shiny wooden floors with walls covered in gilt mirrors & hundreds of framed pictures. The menu is less faithful to the bistro tradition but delivers consistently enjoyable food that’s very fairly priced given the boutique-hotel location. Starters such as a warming dish of brioche with house-braised salt beef can be followed by a succulent steak from the char-grill list, complemented by a smoky forestiere sauce. Alternatively, crispy-skinned sea bass is accompanied by a punchy chorizo & parmesan risotto with black olive tapenade. Obliging service, a good-value set menu (three courses, £26.95) & splendid breakfasts are further reasons to visit.
