Mr Wing

After a couple of decades in business, Mr Wing has garnered an established clientele of locals as well as refugees from the bustle of the nearby Earl’s Court exhibition centre. Sip a cocktail at the ground-floor bar, before graduating to the downstairs restaurant, with its decadent 1970s decor, louche lighting & fish tanks – although you can also eat something light in the bar. The menu offers a range of Chinese standards (the deep-fried shredded beef with chilli is particularly good), as well as a few novelties: sea bass cooked in a clay pot with lily flower, red dates & wood-ear fungus, or lamb with chilli & orange zest, for instance. However, in recent months Mr Wing has attracted criticism for small portions, lacklustre ingredients & ‘pushy’ service, not to mention ‘unreasonably high prices’.
