You’d be forgiven for thinking Motcombs was a gentlemen’s club rather than a restaurant, with its well-groomed, old-school clientele drinking in the pleasant wine bar before eating in a smart dining room that’s filled with oil paintings. The menu harks back to the 1970s – think gravad lax with fresh dill sauce, beef stroganoff & duck a l’orange followed by strawberry flan with ice-cream. It’s not cheap, but the long-term regulars feel right at home & service tends to be good. Two private rooms are perfect for meetings or parties.
