Square Meal review of Miyako:
There’s a new name & some stylish new graphic motifs for this esteemed City Japanese, the most diminutive of the restaurants at the Andaz (née Great Eastern Hotel). Happily, little else has changed under the new regime: it remains a neat little bento box of a place, stylish & buzzy if slightly cramped & uncomfortable. Sushi & sashimi are a notch or two above the conveyor-belt chains & include the likes of toro (tuna belly), hamachi (yellowtail), tobiko (flying fish roe) with quail’s egg, & commendably light & crisp prawn tempura, plus a larger range of hot dishes in the evenings. Desserts are presented with panache & include a good green tea ice-cream served with light, moreish sesame crackers. Lunchtime takeaway trade is brisk.
