Related to the more famous Ken Lo’s Memories of China in Belgravia, this Kensington offshoot delivers a similar mix of subtle, skilfully rendered Chinese food & classy surrounds. White tablecloths & wooden screens keep it smart & simple, while the cooking is mostly from the mainstream – with a few regional surprises for good measure. Starters include chicken ‘ko-tieh’ dumplings with a vinegar dipping sauce, as well as regulation won tons, prawn balls & assorted deep-fried nibbles. Whole Peking duck is a speciality (with a day’s notice), but the menu also encompasses sizzling lobster in sea-spiced sauce, egg-battered chicken & a huge array of commonplace stir-fries, roast meats & hotpots from all parts of China. ‘Executive’ lunches (from £21.95) cover a lot of ground, although they rarely venture into uncharted waters.
