As the offices around Oxford Street empty, so this long, trendy bar fills up with groups of weary workers in search of liquid refreshment & a quick bite. The food menu has been designed with this in mind, featuring a solid if unoriginal choice of tapas as well as more interesting sharing platters of mezze & Spanish charcuterie. But this is a bar & the food plays second fiddle to the cocktails, with a fine list of classics & more unusual creations developed by New York bartender & soi-disant ‘king of cocktails’ Dale DeGroff. Try the Japon, made with Tequila, fresh pink grapefruit, sake & a splash of cassis. During the day, one of the leather sofas in the window is a good spot to go with a laptop – Wi-Fi access is free.
