Square Meal Selections

Square Meal Review of Made in Italy ?

This dyed-in-the-wool pizzeria – rustic rag-rolled walls, checked tablecloths & terracotta flowerpots – is the original of a small London- wide chain specialising in pizza by the metre. The menu concentrates on classic combos which are ordered in 25cm lengths – la capricciosa combines sausage, mushrooms, artichokes & ham, while la siciliana brings together ricotta & fried aubergines. Whatever you choose, expect Vesuvius-like crusts & expertly crisped bases courtesy of the kitchen’s wood-fired oven; elsewhere on the menu, there’s also a wide variety of pasta & grilled meats. If weather permits, sit in the alfresco section of the light, airy balcony terrace upstairs. Staff tend to be brusque & nonplussed by questions, but it makes little difference to the target clientele: youngsters dining en masse & families after a quick in-&-out.

The pizzas from here are absolutely outstanding – easily restaurant quality, and I mean a proper italian restaurant not a chain pizza place.

The worst restuarant I have ever visited. The service was nothing short of diabolical – Waited 1 hr for some garlic bread! Noticed a lot of other tables were suffering from poor/slow service too so we asked for the bill. Another 20 minute wait to finally get the drinks bill – not on the house, was charged and barely appologised to. Certainly not a place to recommend.
