In its promotional blurb Livebait claims to have found a winning formula composed of the finest fish & seafood. Trouble is, the formulaic dining experience at one of the two restaurants remaining from a chain which once had branches scattered around London now seems dictated by an accountant. Portions are strictly controlled & the cooking is a flair-free zone, so stick to simple options– tiger prawns with a rocket & feta salad, grilled salmon fillet, or fish & chips with tartare sauce. Staff conspicuously turn the tables quite fast: an advantage if you’re going to the theatre; otherwise it sustains a formula for disappointment.
