Stocks of this fishy chain are dwindling, but the Covent Garden outpost (one of two remaining London branches) remains popular for its prime location that reels in tourists & theatregoers. The menu offers a vast range of both classic & complex seafood dishes – simple tastes can opt for shellfish platters, plain grilled fish or chunky fish pie, while the likes of Louisiana crab cakes with Cajun potato salad or spicy red Thai fish curry with lime leaves & coriander explore the wilder shores of fish cookery. While the quality of food generally gets the thumbs up, main course prices of over £15 seem steep given the basement dining room’s sterile, chain-feeling decor. A street-level bar serving light bites is a breezier, better-value alternative, & the £5.95 kids’ menu a bargain.
