‘Good things come in small packages’ say fans of this diminutive restaurant, where attentive staff welcome diners to a small dining room. The Little Square is a family-run business & diners come here not only for the food but also for the warm atmosphere that the owners have created. The menu is an enticing combination of the sort of traditional brasserie dishes to suit every mood: pate, baked Camembert & burgers when you want something casual, or pan-fried calf’s liver on shallot confit with bubble & squeak & crispy pancetta for something casual. Unpretentious & honest, the personal touch is everything here, while the small alfresco area is a lovely setting for lunch on a sunny day. If you can’t get a seat, sister restaurant the Market Brasserie (tel: 7491 9442) offers more of the same around the corner.
