Its distressed brickwork may be oh-so-Shoreditch, but The Light still captivates from the off, thanks to an amazing, staggeringly tall bar that keeps locals & dressed-down City workers happy. The choice of spirits is first-class, with 25 whiskies & bourbons, a great range of rum & vodka, plus bottles of Meantime beer. However, if the boozy vibe gets too much, you can always decamp to the more genteel dining room, where the menu promises wholesome Euro-accented dishes along the lines of cider-glazed Berkshire pork belly with crispy pig’s ears & artichoke lyonnaise or Dorset sea bass fillet with slow-baked tomatoes, fennel, mussel & razor clam dressing. Chefs can be hired for private barbecues in summer, & there’s also a first-floor lounge with DJs & cocktails on Friday & Saturday nights.
