The Lamb Tavern

Tartan carpet, dark woods & architectural prints create a traditional & masculine atmosphere in the smart new dining room at The Lamb Tavern, which is tucked above the venerable Leadenhall Market pub & complements its robustly Victorian charms with a menu of filling British classics: potted shrimps or grilled black pudding with smoked bacon & poached egg to start, followed perhaps by steak & kidney pudding or roast rack of lamb with red wine gravy. Veggies can eschew the inevitable pasta offering by opting instead for roast butternut squash with herb risotto, blue cheese & shaved parmesan. Wines include an organic 2004 Cotes du Rhone Chapoutier; there’s a limited selection by the large & small glass.
