There’s a softer, more contemporary look than usual to this big Jamies, brightened up by a cool minty colour scheme & groovy club chairs, so that it no longer feels quite like the big boys’ preserve it once did. Drinks & food are old-school; order a chilled Beaujolais Domaine Chatelus & peruse the menu: lunch might kick off with potted brown shrimps before a main course chicken Caesar salad or pan-fried sea bass with pak choi; or simply choose a sandwich or board to share. The evening menu is similar but simpler. The vast & smart outside terrace is a draw in fine weather, despite the unprepossessing view & traffic noise.
