Regarded as ‘a real gem’ that offers ‘wonderful’ food & a ‘fabulous wine list’, diners pack in to enjoy sophisticated options such as Jerusalem artichoke soup with truffle oil, followed by roast corn-fed chicken breast with Puy lentils, red cabbage, roasted parsnips & thyme gravy. We’ve heard of the odd dud – a haddock & deep-fried risotto balls starter & a spiced chickpea & broad bean rissoles main proved pretty bland despite the ingredients – but the puds are something to shout about, particularly a heavenly apple crumble with creme anglaise. Service is a tad serious, but efficient, & the weekday dinner deal of £19.95 for three courses represents very good value.
