Square Meal review of Incognico: ? Write your review

Taking its inspiration from quintessential French brasseries, Incognico is smartly garbed in dark wood panelling, white napery & comfortable leather seating. It fits the bill for proper business lunches, quiet catch-ups or pre-theatre bites, with a seasonal menu that owes as much to Italy as France. A meal might start with spinach & ricotta ravioli with red pepper, or tagliolini with courgettes & cherry tomatoes, ahead of mains such as grilled swordfish with fennel, or lamb rump with spinach flan & diced tomato. For afters, expect the likes of warm chocolate mousse with prunes, & lemon crème brûlée. Service is described as ‘formal without being overbearing’. One reader shamelessly recommends Incognico as a discreet choice ‘if you’re having an affair’. Some find prices a bit steep (starters around £9, mains around £18), but look out for special-offer pre-theatre & lunch menus. The extensive wine list is ordered by varietal.

We were invited for birthday of our friend to Incognico. Restaurant was half empty but staff looked very stressed for some reason. They were forgetting our orders. We have to ask several times for drinks. Very tucky. I think they thought we were tourists and treated us like ones. definitely won't go there again.

I have eaten at Incognico for some time only held back by its pricing but recently with the set price lunch menu it really has become extremely good value. The service is good without being intrusive the food excellent and Sergio, the Maitre D, is always welcoming. My only criticism is that they suggest you order vegetables – which are extra – when you are ordering the set price menu .

Last week I visited Incognico Restaurant on the recommendation of a good friend of mine who entertains regularly in the top London Restaurants. Our meal experience was first class and even surpassed the high expectations anticipated.
The food content and presentation were second to none and the service attentive and professional. The Restaurant still full when we left. I can’t wait to go back again in the near future.
