A world away from the suits & glass towers of Canary Wharf, the cosy Hubbub is set in The Space – a converted church that acts as a local performance venue, theatre & community arts centre. The first-floor dining room is littered with mismatched tables & chairs, with a pair of soft leather sofas to sink into for pre- or post-dinner drinks. The lunchtime menu centres round tapas, sharing plates & focaccia sandwiches, while the regularly changing evening menu goes global but sticks to a simple format. Steak & Guinness sausages with wholegrain mustard mash compete with spinach & feta borek (pasties) with yoghurt & chive sauce. Weekends attract a steady flow of locals for brunch, which can be enjoyed alfresco at pretty picnic tables. Most of the options on the keenly priced wine menu are available by the glass.
