The Habit

Think Victorian, think masculine: this Davy’s bar & restaurant is no longer in touch with its feminine side as the softer, more contemporary New Waterloo Room has been turned into a function room. Still, there’s a charm to the sawdust-strewn bar & the grill room is cosy & intimate. Food is hearty & filling: start perhaps with chicken liver pate with onion marmalade & toast followed by a char-grilled rib-eye steak or bangers & mash, with treacle tart or summer pudding to finish & a bottle of Davy’s French Red No. 1 to wash it all down. Simpler fare at the bar includes sandwiches & sharing plates.
