It’s worth wending your way through the crowds of schoolchildren & tour parties in the British Museum to get to The Court, which, despite its touristy clientele, offers reliable & interesting cooking. The dining room, which sits under the impressive glass roof of the Great Court & overlooks the old British Library reading room, is an attractive backdrop for the well-crafted food, which ranges from lunch to afternoon tea & dinner. Expect cooking as international as the museum-goers: beef tataki & beetroot & goats’ cheese salad followed by black cod with miso & fillet of beef with French fries, creamed spinach, foie gras & truffle sauce, say.
