Square Meal review of Grapeshots:
So convincingly Dickensian is the appearance of the bar in this atmospheric little Davy’s that it’s almost a shame that the smoking ban prevents the addition of Victorians puffing on clay pipes, for only this & a swirl of fog would be needed to complete the illusion of time travel. The basement dining room is less of a timewarp & there’s certainly nothing outmoded about the Davy’s wine list, nor indeed the menu: lunch on linguine, sunblush tomatoes, spinach, pine nuts & pesto or perhaps a smoked chicken Caesar salad & ponder what Bill Sykes would make of it all.
