Promises of a modern makeover have not yet materialised, but The Gaylord is probably better off hanging on to its charmingly kitsch interior of pistachio green walls & chandeliers, anyway. This friendly neighbourhood restaurant, sandwiched into a parade of shops in an uninspiring location on Manchester Road, is known for its winning curries, tandoori dishes & specialities such as fragrantly spiced passanda – sliced lamb or chicken cooked in a delicate cream sauce. There’s also an array of tasty vegetables, fluffy naans, plus a short wine list designed to complement the food. And the quirky decor simply adds to the charm.
