Square Meal review of Gaucho Hampstead:

The Hampstead outpost of Gaucho was refurbished at the beginning of 2007, its unremarkable facade giving no clue as to the sexy cowhide interior within. There’s a sleek black bar up front, a large alfresco terrace & a long dining room overlooked by the huge open kitchen serving up food fit for urban cowboys. Steaks, of course, are the highlight: the churrasco lomo (a sublimely tender spiral-cut piece of fillet steak) tops the bill, but even a modest rib-eye is tasty, marbled with just the right amount of fat. Vegetable sides & tasty sauces provide the accompaniments & for dessert the banana tres leches is a wicked confection of moist banana & caramel sponge. Staff are a delight & the wine list is an Argentinian education, with a ‘Fine & Rare’ section if you’re pushing the boat out.
