Gallipoli

Cheap, especially by Islington standards, & extremely cheerful, the trio of Gallipoli restaurants (including Gallipoli Bazaar at 107 Upper Street & Gallipoli Again at 120 Upper Street) press all the right buttons for a good time on a budget. It packs ’em in & feeds ’em up from breakfast until the early hours, when a party atmosphere prevails. Group celebrations are a speciality as there’s something on the menu to suit all tastes: tons of veggie options as well as hearty mains like incik (tender lamb with potatoes & rice). Set meals are handy for avoiding squabbling over the bill at the end of the meal. There’s certainly better Turkish food to be had elsewhere, but none can match this place for boisterous bonhomie.
