Billing itself as an ‘excellent lubricant for social interaction’, this Japanese-style groover looks like some surreal level from a retro computer game – note the multicoloured koi carp & animé heroes emblazoned on the windows & walls. A basement club blasts out house, disco, funk & soul till late, while the upstairs bar has a respectable selection of Japanese food to nibble before getting down to boogie – go for the assorted nigiri sushi or bento boxes (£10). Saké, ginseng beer & draught Asahi reinforce Fluid’s oriental cred, but it’s better to quaff Japanese-inspired cocktails instead – Tokyo iced tea, say. For a speedy fix, slot your money into the vending machine that doles out bottles of beer.
