Fluid looks like an ultra-hip Osaka DJ bar transported to Smithfield. The gaming-arcade vibe works well & there’s a downbeat, edgy, anti-brand attitude that will deter buttoned-up City suits. The £6 cocktails are pretty reliable: Tokyo Iced Tea, Japanese Slipper, Silver Ninja & Shochu Cooler are all well executed, while beers include Kirin, Sapporo & Asahi Super Dry. The sushi chefs’ skills are up to scratch when it comes to sashimi & tempura, too – set menus at £10 a head representing real value. The music runs from Brazilian funk to dirty electro &, with superclub Fabric on its doorstep, this is a popular pre-club as well as a destination in its own right.
