Square Meal review of Catch & Champagne Bar:
Tweaks to the decor have added warmth, intimacy & outsized chandeliers to the pretty dining room at the former Fishmarket, renamed & refreshed along with the hotel in which it is sited. Staff are more casual in their softer uniforms & the menu is admirably short & straightforward – there are no meat dishes & the only distraction from the seafood focus is the occasional veggie option. The food ranges from the brute simplicity of prawn cocktail or the catch of the day with tartare sauce, through the familiar likes of gravad lax with sweet mustard or smoked haddock & salmon fishcakes with horseradish sauce to the wilder shores of a foie gras, leek & smoked eel terrine or steamed halibut in banana leaf with coconut juice, ginger & pak choy. The Champagne Bar now has its own distinct identity – ideal for bubbly & oysters.
