Shiny black surfaces, mirrors & oversized photos of bronzed beauties are par for the course at this svelte caffè in the self-consciously glamorous confines of the Emporio Armani store, with its pulsing music & hordes of fashionable foreigners. The minimalist space may not be as sleek as the shop floor, but the busloads of tourists rumbling past the plate-glass windows don’t know this. As for the food, forget branded in-store cafés; instead, feast your eyes on a comprehensive, resolutely Italian menu that ranges from octopus carpaccio with grilled peppers, olives & saffron potatoes to homemade gnocchi with scallops, tiger prawns, mussels & clams. What’s more, there’s also a solid range of tempting puds – ironic for such a bastion of fashion.
