This Arts & Crafts-style corner pub attracts a pleasant mix of arty souls & middle-aged couples drawn to a nostalgic interior: frosted windows, a working fire, ancient patterned lino, red Formica-topped tables, & Ella Fitzgerald cooing in the background. It’s a window onto all our yesteryears. There’s a sensible wine list, Greene King IPA & Adnams Broadside, while above-average gastro grub – casseroles, terrines, steaks, sausages, roasts, pies & fish dishes as well as the occasional pan-Asian influence – is served throughout. The tables at high-backed dark wooden booths to the rear make the cosiest spot for winter dining.
