Square Meal Review of Duke of Cambridge ?

Graceful, in an updated Victorian sort of way, The Duke of Cambridge has Young’s Bitter on draught & more than half of the choices on its reasonable wine list available by the glass. The lags who prop up the bar here, or inhabit the comfortable all-weather terrace, tend to have accents picked up at the private schools they attended some decades ago, & an easiness to match. Don’t expect miracles from the food – this is a straightforward pub with no pretension to be anything else – but the kitchen does take its cooking seriously. Stick to the likes of chicken wings, fish & chips, steak & ale pie & custard tart, or book ahead for Sunday lunch, which delivers the works for under £15.
