This ‘absolutely fab' style bar may resemble a post-nuclear bomb-proof bunker, but there's nothing intimidating about the explosive alcoholic hits on offer here. Lose yourself amid its ‘cavernous, bricky arches' and enjoy happy hour (two for £8 until 8pm) with a sexy whisky sour or a King Kong (four rums, banana and three juices). Elsewhere, last waltz (a sloe gin and pear brandy twinkle) appears among a selection of £20 cups to share, while burnt fuselage is a 1920s' American recipe using Cognac, Grand Marnier and dry vermouth. Nibbles (three for £10) include arancini balls and smoking popcorn, alongside more substantial chicken in olive bread, pizzas and Italian meat platters. This being Detroit, expect Motown in the DJ mix. Birthday bashes and hen dos also deliver ‘high levels of success'.
