A small but comfortable lounge area at the foot of the stairs leads the way into this intimate brick-walled basement bar, which with its artful lighting vaults is an atmospheric place in which to tuck into something from the lunchtime brasserie menu: a pecorino, truffle & sweet pepper tart with red pesto & baby leaf salad, perhaps. Wash it down with a bottle from the Corney & Barrow wine list, which is set out by grape variety, or opt instead for a classy Bitburger bottled beer or draught Pilsner Urquell. There are nachos, potato wedges & other nibbles in the evening & with wireless internet on site you can check your emails as you eat.
