Corney & Barrow Exchange Square

This tiny, glassy wine bar on a sunny piazza high above the platforms of Liverpool Street station comes into its own in summer, when it sprouts a vast outside terrace, the City’s sporting types battle it out on the croquet lawn & there’s culinary diversion in the form of a barbecue. Meaty treats might include burgers, lemon, parsley & garlic chicken breasts or sesame & Thai basil prawn skewers; otherwise, tuck into a hot turkey & pancetta club sandwich or, in the evening, merguez sausage skewers. There’s masses of choice by the small or large glass from the Corney & Barrow list & if wine doesn’t suit there’s always crisp Bitburger lager to quench any sport-induced thirst.
