Overlooking the tracks of Liverpool Street station, this conservatory-style wine bar really comes alive in fine weather, when the outdoor terrace is fully open, & ‘golf croquet’ & Pimm’s are the main pursuits. The easily navigable Corney & Barrow wine list offers rosé from England, France & South Africa, & whites divided into Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc & a page of interesting ‘other varieties’ – including Verdelho & Albariño. In cold weather, the terrace shrinks to a fraction of its summer capacity, & there are plates of warming sausage & mash or toasted sandwiches for lunch, washed down with some mellow reds. The little kitchen also turns out antipasti, soups & Caesar salad, plus evening nibbles of dim sum & nachos for year-round satisfaction.
