The basement of the Spanish-owned Melia White House, over the road from Regent’s Park, is where you’ll find this smart hotel dining room. Food is best be described as upmarket international with a Spanish accent, with starters ranging from a lobster salad to grilled mixed vegetables, confit quail and white bean sauce followed by mains of beef fillet with wild mushroom ragu and sherry, say. Centre stage is given to a list of paellas, which includes both innovative and traditional combinations. A mostly Spanish wine list has crisp Albarinos from Galicia & creamy Chardonnays from Penedes &, of course, a wide choice of Rioja, including a premium selection for upwards of £50.
