Square Meal review of Bolt Hole:

Tucked into a peaceful enclave of old lanes moments from Cannon Street station, the Bolt Hole is a basement wine bar in the traditional City manner, its mellow brick arches warmed up by bold red upholstery. The food is as reassuring as the traditional surroundings: think prawn salad with lemon mayonnaise, a chicken, bacon & brie wrap or a coronation chicken sandwich, with something from the short but cosmopolitan wine list to wash it down: a £13 red or white Vin de Pays d’Oc house offering, or perhaps a more glamorous 2004 Puligny-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Vincent Girardin at £37.50. There’s plenty available by the glass & the non-vintage Champagnes are affordable.
