It’s testament to the power of celebrity culture that this quirky subterranean Italian bases its corporate identity on little more than name-dropping, so that every pizza is the favourite of some star or other, though whether Clark Gable still favours the Puttanesca would be rather difficult to verify. The wine list is short & Italian-dominated, though you might instead opt for the £18 Mateus Rose & make a lovely table lamp from the bottle, or else impress your workmates with a £33.50 St Emilion. The magnificently kitsch neo-Ottoman Victoriana of the building – a former Turkish baths – is memorable & the atmosphere more conducive to post-work partying than sober business lunches.
