Square Meal review of Cicada:
With a stainless steel bar & minimalist flowers in a look-at-me vase, this ecru-walled pan-Asian restaurant/bar uses cool modernism to balance the casual warmth infused by its relaxed, smiley staff & snacky delights. Multinational food with a bit of a Japanese bias is light & fresh, with the dumplings, spare ribs & chilli-salt squid worthy of note. Desserts often apply Eastern flavours to Western formats, with ice-creams & sorbets prevalent. The menu’s glossary proves very useful for the uninitiated, while its balanced, reasonably priced (but hardly cheap) set-menu options help the indecisive. There’s pavement space for alfresco eating & drinking & the private dining room has recently been tarted up.
