Square Meal review of The Churchill Bar at the Hyatt Regency London:
Sir Winston would never have stood for it. Formerly known as The Churchill Bar & Cigar Divan, the smoking ban has forced this venerable old hotel bar to shorten its name. The clouds of cigar smoke may be gone, but it’s still possible to buy a stogie at the bar from a mild Hoyo de Monterrey to a full-bodied Montecristo, even if you can’t smoke it on the premises. An excellent selection of malt whiskies & classic cocktails also remains, while the old-school food comprises bar snacks of soups, sandwiches & burgers. The unashamedly old-fashioned decor of polished mahogany tables & red leather seats is overlooked by photos of Sir Winston Churchill himself. But you can’t help but feel that something is now missing.
