Just off bustling James Street, Chada Chada offers a reliable hit of Thai spice without the touristy overtones. Amid a trim setting of ethnic artefacts & artfully folded napkins, courteous staff serve up a familiar repertoire with due care & attention; try prawns in a rice-paper carapace, lively salads such as laab ped (with roast duck, shallots, chilli & ground rice), rich curries or a decent version of pad thai thick with crushed peanuts. Those wanting a cheap lunchtime fix away from the shops & crowds should go for the great-value set menu (£9.95 for two courses). The owners take on board customer feedback & are in the throes of introducing more vegan & vegetarian options, as well as giving the downstairs room a more opulent Thai theme.
