Square Meal review of The Capital: 
This two Michelin-starred hotel dining room continues to purvey the finer things in life with the utmost professionalism. The experience includes a cheese trolley that’s judged ‘out of this world’, a connoisseur’s dream of a wine list & unimpeachable, formal-but-friendly service. But it’s for chef Eric Crouillere-Chavot’s seriously accomplished cooking that The Capital is deservedly most famous. From an amuse-bouche of punchy duck kebab on Puy lentils to a starter proper of deep-fried frogs’ legs with ham hock & sweetbread – a total harmony of contrasting flavours – meals start in fine fettle. Pave of sole comes with a rich, earthy cassoulet of white bean & bacon, while another main course sees gloriously tender duck breast perfectly teamed with a macaroni tower & pear jelly. Desserts, such as a sophisticated take on a Snickers bar involving layers of dark chocolate, salted caramel & nuts, maintain the high standard. Prices, of course, are steep – though not outlandishly so – & there’s a bargain of a three-course set lunch at £29.50.
