If the restaurant’s moniker seems odd, it’s because the ‘Man’ of the title actually refers to the Isle of Man – making it arguably the only Manx-Italian eatery in the capital. Real men can test their mettle by ordering ‘Snaefell diabola’ (the self-proclaimed ‘hottest pizza in the British Isles’), while other geographically named pizzas issuing from this bright spark might include the Port Soderick (smoked salmon with cream cheese) & a sweet version dubbed Ballabeg (bananas with butterscotch). There are also authentic, New York-style renditions with bubbles in the dough, & the kitchen is keen to showcase Manx produce where possible – queenie scallops with pancetta in crab sauce, for example. Although locals were saddened to lose Cantina Augusto, which used to trade here, this new venture should quell any heartbreak.
