Square Meal review of Le Cafe du Jardin:

This charming eatery has been feeding the Covent Garden crowds for several years, & its popularity never seems to falter. The upstairs light-filled dining room with its traditional decor is preferred to the more intimate basement restaurant, but both are manned by charismatic staff & serve up an appealing modern European menu. Pan-fried, juicy scallops with potato & carrot vermicelli, or crunchy & flavoursome pork & shrimp salad with chilli & lime dressing make a fresh & light start. To follow, rare grilled fillet of ostrich with mushroom duxelle & a rich port reduction, & grilled tuna with sauteed broccoli are just as satisfying. And the apple tart with caramel & creme chantilly is the perfect way to round things off. Pre- & post-theatre menus are good value (£11.95/15.50 for two/three courses plus coffee) & the wide-ranging wine list offers lots of choice under £30.
