Stashed down a quiet alley, a few steps from chaotic Long Acre, Cafe des Amis’s modern French fare & smart surrounds hold equal appeal to shoppers, theatregoers & business diners. The kitchen puts a fresh spin on the classics: carpaccio of yellowfin tuna nicoise with quail’s egg or roast chicken with wild garlic leaf mash, morels & truffle oil might be followed by a chocolate soup with black pepper ice-cream. The post-theatre set descends on the intimate basement wine bar (open until 1am) for cheese, charcuterie & a French wine list. There’s also a new private dining room that can hold parties of up to 20, & alfresco seating is available.
