Square Meal review of Brilliant:

Probably the most famous restaurant in Southall, Brilliant’s slick, shiny, modern looks make quite an impression in this vibrant area, & this institution continues to attract tourists & locals alike. Some feel that it’s not the most authentic Indian locally, what with its Kenyan influences & having adapted to the tastes of the local market over the last 30 or so years (lovers of chicken tikka masala will feel at home), but it’s arguably the most reliable. There’s a decent range of lamb, chicken & seafood classics & also plenty to tempt the more adventurous: nyama choma delivers Kenyan-spiced barbecued lamb ribs, while alu chollay is a wondrous mix of chickpeas with dried mango powder & coriander. In keeping with current trends, all dishes may be ordered in ‘healthier’ (read: low fat) versions in which much or all of the ghee & oil have been eliminated. The results are well worth trying.
