Situated on the lower part of Broadgate Circle & somewhat dwarfed by the looming glass-fronted Corney & Barrow opposite, Brasserie Rocque still manages to hold its own thanks to some good-value food & wine. The vast majority of dishes are under a tenner, including burgers, steaks, & ‘pub favourites’ such as chicken, leek & Wiltshire ham pie; there’s also an admirable fixed-price deal offering two courses for £9.95. The draught beer list is rather anodyne, but head for the wines & you’ll find plenty of sub-£20 tipples – plus some sought-after producers including Kleine Zalze & Thelema from South Africa. Alfresco dining on the terrace is encouraged, with heaters switched on as the cold weather descends.
